Resale is very popular if you own a rental property. Probably 50 percent of the people I see are doing the rounds and shopping at other resale stores. I think what happens with costs being what they are, there’s a huge emphasis for people to shop resale. We probably see people in their mid-30s to 65 plus. The Center has a ten-acre campus and a residential program and outpatient component that treats children to adults. We are in support of the David Lawrence Center’s mental health and substance abuse services. We work with folks that help families in need. Those unique items really make the store special. We have two organs and I’m expecting a piano. We like to take the weird and wonderful items. Everybody here is a volunteer, except me. And the energy of the volunteers we have here. The amount of quality items in the store and the design is unique. We’ve had some wonderful success with unique items.
I do truly believe that everything matters. We also have a very small boutique in one room with women’s clothing and accessories, handbags, shoes and jewelry. We have some kids’ things and recently received a donation of toddler beds. We sell miscellaneous items, housewares and kitchenwares, custom draperies, and patio furniture. It’s quality resale furniture, housewares and a beautiful selection of framed artwork and decorative wall mirrors. A lot of times people walk in and say, “Wow! This is thrift?” The items we have are definitely high quality and we have those secret bargains and treasures that people are hunting for. We’ve had a lot of success and been extremely blessed with the merchandise.
